Responsible and accountable for performing a wide range of direct patient care tasks. The performance of tasks allows the care team to provide
quality care. Meets the qualifications to provide care for patients in the specific age range on their assigned clinical area.
Performs duties to support the goals and objectives of Geisinger Health System in its efforts to provide quality service and patient satisfaction.
Works under the direction of the Nursing or Operations Manager.
COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:
PATIENT RIGHTS-Knowledge of principles and practices associated with the rights and responsibilities of patients and caregivers.
PATIENT SAFETY-Knowledge of the risks faced by patients in a healthcare environment, and the ability to take steps to reduce these risks.
HEALTH INFORMATION DOCUMENTATION-Knowledge of the relevance of health information and appropriate documentation methods; ability
to record medical histories, symptoms, vital signs, medications, diagnoses, treatment plans, procedures, tests, and medical results in written or
COMPUTER SKILLS-Demonstrates basic navigation in a windows environment, and passwords and security. Accesses the internet, uses basic browser
functionality, and understands policy on Internet usage. Demonstrates the ability to compose, send and read emails, understands email functionality
and conventions related to replying.
COMMUNICATION-Demonstrates oral, written, and electronic communication skills.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
HS Diploma or GED required

GEISINGER WYOMING VALLEY MEDICAL CENTER: (GWV), located in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., is an acute care hospital that is licensed for 274 beds, and houses the only Level II Trauma center in Luzerne County.
