The Manager of Patient Business Services reports directly to the Director of Revenue Analysis. The Manager of Patient Business Services oversees and coordinates the daily operations and related functions of the billing department. The Manager provides managerial direction and support for the Business Office through the utilization of staff and other resources, and the review/analysis of daily, weekly and monthly reports. The Manager ensures efficient departmental performance; to consistently meet and/or exceed monthly Business Office goals, as well as adherence to hospital, corporate and federal policy guidelines. The Manager ensures positive customer service expectations are achieved by promoting excellent employee relations and serves as a liaison between insurance companies, physicians, administration, hospital departments, and non-facility business units i.e. Conifer ï¿½ MEP, CFC, EO and Patient Access. Acts as a mentor for staff success and demonstrates innovative thinking for future needs of the department/facility. The Manager is part of the Business Office Management Team and is part of the Revenue Cycle Team at Hi Desert Medical Center. Equally importantly is the incumbentï¿½s adherence to, and promulgation of, the fundamental ï¿½Valuesï¿½ of HDMC. Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
ï¿½ Responsible for overseeing daily billing, follow up and collections for the hospital AR. ï¿½ Monitor/Analyze A/R and Disputes. ï¿½ Review and approve all refunds and adjustments for the hospital AR. ï¿½ Analyze and verify that contracts have been loaded correctly into NThrive and claims are properly adjudicated during and after managed care negotiations. ï¿½ Provide analysis on data when requested. ï¿½ Monitor/review billing, AR and reconciliation for Hospital. ï¿½ Work with hospital department managers to resolve revenue cycle issues (e.g., orders, charging, Patient Access, DNFB, DNSP, QS, ICE, disputes) ï¿½ Develop plan of actions when needed to assure the goals for DNFB, DNSP and QS are met. ï¿½ Assist with the management of the TAR process for the hospital. ï¿½ Responsible for the analysis of the eReserve process at month end. ï¿½ Have an understanding of the overlap process for the hospital including the 1206D clinics, Ambulatory Surgery Center and any out patient business. ï¿½ Assist in the management of the Auditing Department. ï¿½ Manage the Risk Audit accounts. ï¿½ Manage all Physician write off requests. ï¿½ Work with the Director and Hospital Compliance Officer on all compliance issues. ï¿½ Determines staffing requirements for the Business Office Department. Adjusts staffing schedules according to volumes/workload. ï¿½ Ensures department staff remains current on all .EDU training course requirements. ï¿½ Organizes, leads and documents in-service and departmental meetings in cooperation with other department managers on job related functions and duties. ï¿½ Reviews and monitors employee work quality and productivity to maintain accuracy. Provides feedback to staff on performance. ï¿½ Ensures departmental processes are in line with facility and corporate goals. ï¿½ Reviews, recommends, authors and implements new policies and procedures/process flows. Collaborates with co-workers and team members to identify opportunities for improvement and develop plans for corrective actions and/or solutions. Monitors effectiveness of implemented changes and provides feedback to appropriate staffing personnel. ï¿½ Ensures consistency in training, policies and procedures/work flow processes, disciplinary actions, for direct reports. ï¿½ Provides assistance and/or resolves patient complaints. ï¿½ Acts as a liaison with all ancillary departments. ï¿½ Acts as a motivator. Ensures continued employee satisfaction to help reduce and maintain employee turnover. ï¿½ Ensures that all staff personnel files are current. ï¿½ Handles employee issues in a timely manner and documents according to hospital policies and guidelines. ï¿½ Completes employee 90-day and yearly evaluations timely and according to hospital guidelines. ï¿½ Documents disciplinary actions taken according to current hospital policy and procedure. ï¿½ Monitors staff attendance, tardiness and vacation time monthly and initiates disciplinary action per policy. ï¿½ Maintain turnover at 5% or less ï¿½ Provide assistance on other duties as requested.
Preferred: ï¿½ Significant experience (10+ years) in A/R Management and analysis. ï¿½ Significant experience (10+years) in a Supervisory role. ï¿½ High School diploma ï¿½ Knowledge and proficiency in PC operations and preferably Meditech, AS400, PBAR and Showcase operations. ï¿½ Expert knowledge in Excel version 2010 which includes Setting Up a Workbook, Working with Data and Excel Tables, Performing Calculations on Data, Creating Worksheets by using PivotTables, Creating Charts and Graphics, Printing ï¿½ Expert Knowledge in other Microsoft Office 2010 Products ï¿½ Proven written and oral communication skills
