This position is located in the Medical Service section. The incumbent operates and monitors electrocardiographic equipment to perform specialized examinations and studies involving exercise stress testing, ambulatory monitoring of arrhythmias, and indirect carotid pulse tracings on chronic patients. They evaluate test results to determine appropriate machine adjustments and use alternative techniques and procedures when established procedures do not accomplish acceptable results. ***If you are not a Current Permanent Federal Employee, apply to Vacancy CBST-11131783-21-LA*** Duties performed include, but are not limited to the following: Performs diagnostic Electrocardiograms; Utilizes a variety of equipment to perform examinations; Performs extensive monitoring examinations and assists Cardiologists and Cardiology Fellows with procedures such as exercise and Nuclear Stress Tests exams; Instructs Cardiology Fellows and other Allied Healthcare students, in recording aspects of Electrocardiography and appropriate documentation of these exams for interpretation; Performs standard and non-standard examinations; Counsel with cardiologist on the techniques used for standard and non-standard exams; Confers with the Cardiologist concerning "Critical Values" when necessary; Notifies Cardiologist/Cardiology Fellows of significant findings which may require immediate medical attention; Received patients, explains procedures and performs exams independently setting, calibrating, and operating of EKG and stress EKG systems; Assists Cardiologists, Cardiology Fellows and PAs with technical components before, during and following Stress tests and Nuclear Stress tests; Responsible for setting up for procedures to be done, ensuring that the EKG systems are working properly working; Maintains adequate supplies so that examinations ae not delayed due to the lack o necessary equipment and supplies. Performs other related duties as assigned.
