The RN GI Procedures position is located within the Philadelphia VA Medical Center, Patient Care Services - Ambulatory Service, GI Procedures Unit. The RN is responsible for managing complex patient situations, acts as a patient advocate, and provides supportive assistance to all members of the healthcare team. The incumbent is a Registered Nurse who is responsible for the clinical, administrative, research and educational aspects of the assignment. Functions as a clinical, educational or administrative leader, Pacesetter or role model for peers and personnel under their supervision Initiates problem identification; seeks resolution; follows through with implementation; evaluates by defining in terms of improved health care Identifies potential problems and writes appropriate Nursing/medical orders/interventions as per clinical privileges Consistently records and reports patient care. Documents in a timely, concise, clear manner Takes in consideration, cultural, religious values and beliefs when planning and providing care Identifies and communicates ethical issues to health team and or other appropriate persons Consults appropriate resources to assess the needs in collaboration with other health team members Serves as a resource person at the unit level in facilitating the implementation of Patient Care Programs (i. e. Performance Improvement, Infection Control, Recruitment, Retention, and Safety Regulations). Identifies reusable instruments, equipment, medical devices or supplies in use in the clinical area. Obtains, reads, and follows Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all RME in use. Follows all SOPs in proper setup, use and reprocessing. Consults SPD and Infection Control when clarification of written instruction is needed. Regularly conducts and/or participates in multidisciplinary conferences Assumes responsibility for providing and/or arranging for learning needs of self and co-workers in collaboration with Nursing Administrative Staff and Nursing Education. Conducts effective conferences; accepts responsibility for starting meetings/conferences/rounds promptly, maintaining direction and following through with decided plan of action to improve health care Serves as a catalyst in a group setting, prioritizes needs and moves the group towards goal accomplishment or problem resolution Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:30am-4pm with at least one late stay required each week Telework: Not Available Virtual: This is not a virtual position.
