Willing to work cooperatively as a member of a team in all assignments. Sheridan VAHCS is recruiting for an RN in Mental Health RRTP Admissions. Provides competent care to patients in a variety of inpatient and outpatient settings to include the medical unit, Mountain View Living Center, acute psychiatry, residential rehabilitation, ambulatory, mental health and specialty clinics, urgent care and extended or community based care. The incumbent is able to practice independently with little to no direct oversight and lesser reliance on the guidance of subject matter experts and expert nurses in order to effectively plan and manage complex clinical situations. Responsibilities include, but not limited to: Acts as a resource for other registered nurses, LPNs and non-licensed staff. Serves as a preceptor for new employees to the unit. Identifies systems improvement needs and implements performance improvement processes to effect change on the unit. Reviews care plans to ensure all patient needs are addressed, is careful to include the patient/family in development of the care plan. Ensures that the plan is followed by all staff. Assists patient/families with expressing their wishes as they relate to provision of care. Effectively prioritizes patient needs as part of managing complex patient needs. Manages admissions/discharges to the unit such that no delay in care is incurred. Follows instructions of supervisors in regards to emergency situation management and unit function. Ensures the on duty staff perform their duties in a manner that is mindful of resources and attempts to improve efficiencies when wasteful processes are identified. Additional duties may be assigned as appropriate by supervisory chain. Work Schedule: Varies, Sun-Sat, Day, Night, 8hr or 12hr shifts Financial Disclosure Report: Not required
