Responsibilities include: day to day operations of the department, staffing based on patient load, and assist with quality and efficient patient care. Performs EEGs, ambulatory EEGs for all ages of patients. Performs continuous video EEG epilepsy monitoring, independent intraoperative monitoring and evoked potential studies. Responsible for recording electrical activity of the patient's brain to study epilepsy, convulsive disorders and localizing lesions in the cerebrum. Assist with EMG studies as needed. Performs clerical duties. Participates in performance improvement and continuous quality (CQI) improvement activities. If there are trainees in the Neurodiagnostic Department the ND tech II will take part in formal and informal training of the trainees.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coordinates care appropriate to condition and age of the patient, including neonate, pediatric, adolescent, geriatric and general population
Acts as a resource person for co-workers, physicians and the general hospital staff.
Communicates appropriately and clearly to physicians, staff and administration.
Participates in the call rotation
Assists in the continuous evaluation of Neuroscience operations
Delegates and coordinates activities of program staff
Promotes effective intradepartmental and interdepartmental relationships.
Provides input to leadership on budgetary, staffing and other operational needs.
Ability to use computerized equipment to perform EEGs ,evoked potential and independent intra-operative monitoring
Obtains patient's medical history from medical record and patient; documents patient information on EEG flow sheet.
Demonstrates the ability to place electrodes on the patient's scalp in the designated areas.
Demonstrates the ability to monitor and interrupt test results in order to make changes or adjustments as needed by the physician.
Responsible for recording and labeling test results. sends test results to ordering physician; files all test results according to policy and procedure.
Maintains a daily log of all procedures performed.
Operates equipment safely and correctly; performs preventative maintenance; reports all malfunctions.
Interacts professionally with patients and/or families; treats patients and families with respect.
Provides care appropriate to condition and age of patient, neonate through geriatric population.
Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
Educates patient and family about procedure performed.
Ensures electrical safety of patients at all times.

Education/Experience Requirements:
High School Graduate or equivalent.
Completion of educational program for EEG technicians or equivalent experience and is a R.EEG.T (Registered EEG technologist)
Four years of experience performing EEG's and evoked potentials preferred.
Registrations through one or more of the following registries are encouraged but not mandatory. ABRET (American Board of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologist, R.EEG T. (EEG), R.EPT. (Evoked Potentials) CNIM (Intraoperative monitoring, CLTM (Long term Monitoring. R.NCS.T (American Association of Electro diagnostic Technologists)
Current BLS certification.
Attends continuing education courses/seminars when available.
