JOB SUMMARY:
Reporting to the EVP, Chief Nurse Executive, the VP Regional Chief Nursing Officer (CNO), College Station Region has responsibility for the clinical leadership within Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - College Station, Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Brenham, and the clinics. This executive provides the direction and support required to affect high quality patient outcomes. As a member of the senior leadership team the CNO works closely with the Hospital President and Chief Medical Officer (CMO) to guide clinical services in the acute care hospital and clinics with a focus on achieving healthcare excellence.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Identify and articulate the vision and strategic direction for the development of high-quality nursing care consistent with the Baylor Scott & White Health (BSWH) mission, ambition, and values
- Create a nursing environment in which collaboration is valued and excellence in clinical care, education and research is promoted and achieved
- Responsible for the practice of nursing and ensuring consistency in the standard of practice across clinical settings
- Provide strategic leadership as the patient care executive responsible for all nursing and other designated patient care functions / services within the clinic and hospital hospital organization. Assure implementation of system-wide and regional strategic initiaitives
- Participate in hospital strategic planning process and collaborate with facility management team and teh medical staff to develop the overall financial plan for the medical facility
- Lead quality and patient safety efforts
- Provide leadership and direction in the development of strategies to promote the recruitment, retention and recognition of excellence in Nursing including oversight and recommendations regarding compensation and benefit programs for nursing staff
- Assume accountability for identifying problems and issues, generating solutions and anticipating the effects of those decisions
- In conjuction with medical facility leadership groups, develop and implement quality and utilizatin standards for patient care services to ensure coordinated plans of treatment, delivery of services that meet members’ needs, and the most cost-effective and efficient levels of patient care clinically and operationally
- For Patient Care Services, implements a performance improvement program, including planning, setting priorities, conducting systematic performance assessments, implementing improvements based on such assessments, and maintaining achieved improvements
- Provide leadership and direction for clinical programs and services, assuring the appropriate resources for the delivery of clinical care in the ambulatory and acute care settings
- Participate in setting and achieving operational and financial goals for the facility
- Assure nursing services provided meet standards and requirements of TJC and all other applicable regulatory bodies
- Create an organizational culture that provides a safe and enriching environment for patients and employees
- Serve on the BSWH Nursing Executive Council with CNOs from other BSWH facilities, leading the pursuit of nursing excellence system wide
- Facilitate, direct and coordinate operational activities and programs relative to the day-to-day hospital operations of the medical center through the delivery of cost effective and quality services
- Manage the operating and capital budgets of areas of responsibility. Aggressively mitigates all variances to budget. Make sound decisions on best use of resources in support of priorities and strategies
- Consistently support compliance and the Principles of Responsibility by maintaining the privacy and confidentiality of information, protecting the assets of the organization, acting with ethics and integrity, reporting non-compliance, and adhering to applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations, accreditation and licenser requirements (if applicable), and policies and procedures

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:
- Proven nurse leadership skills driving accountability
- Exhibited track record of developing successful staff medical relationships in both the ambulatory and acute care settings
- Experienced collaborator with other clinical disciplines to improve patient safety, quality, and an excellence of care model
- Experience in a Shared Governance model nursing environment; experience from Magnet Hospital is preferred
- Ability to work collaboratively with other clinical and administrative disciplines to accomplish strategic initiatives and clinical quality goals
- May substitute related scope of experience in the patient care arena for CNO experience

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Master’s Degree
- 8+ years of experience
