JOB SUMMARY:Â
The Infectious Disease providers diagnose, treat, and often cure illnesses caused by viruses, bacteria, fungi, and parasites. Our expert team manages various diseases, including pneumonia, flu, C. diff., MRSA, UTIs, wounds, surgical site infections, tick and mosquito-borne diseases, and HIV and other STDs. We manage and prescribe antibiotics, fungi, and a minimal selection of medications but do not prescribe pain medications. Many of our patients require IV antibiotics through a PICC line, midline, or tunnel catheter, which are placed while in the hospital or sometimes setup through the outpatient clinic. Our clinic nurses and physicians must closely monitor these patients on a data base system called OPAT. It has been proven that patients heal and recover faster in their home settings with an excellent support team. We are that team! This Support Team comprises our ID providers, infusion pharmacies, home nursing, and nursing staff. Most of our work is managed by following patients' labs, radiology reports, updates from pharmacists and home nursing, and from the patients themselves. On average, we have over 50 patients on the OPAT requiring monitoring and treatment advice, which is mostly done over the phone. OPAT is one of the more critical parts of what our nursing staff manage. However, we also offer the opportunity for LPNs to use their skills in various tasks, such as rooming patients, obtaining culture swabs, and providing needed wound care. Adding more LPNs to our team can enhance our patient care services in various areas, including expanding medication administration with PICC lines, offering more vaccine options, and opening our clinic lab. Our office provides many opportunities for advancement as our practice grows.Â
