The VA Northeast Ohio Healthcare System is recruiting for a Medical Instrument Technician (EKG). The Medical Instrument Technician will function in Medicine Service. A medical instrument technician at this level performs routine procedures without the direct supervision of a Physician or Provider and appropriately communicates relevant information. Incumbent is also assigned Nursing Assistant duties in the Northeast Ohio VA Medical Center. Incumbent provides nursing care as well as transport and ancillary assistance while serving as a member of the Medicine Service- Cardiology with no defined patient load. Duties include but are not limited to; Performs a wide variety of duties aimed at increasing the comfort and spirit of the patient. Procedures may include taking vitals, 12 lead EKG, glucometer testing and assisting with dressing and undressing. Transporting patients via wheelchair or gurney, Accompanies ambulatory patients who need assistance, to various areas within the facility including, bathrooms, diagnostic areas, treatment areas and to and from their car or mode of transportation. Observes patients continually and reports any unusual changes in the conditions, behaviors, or demeanor of the patients. Assist doctors, nurses, and anesthesia staff with the movement, positioning, and transfer of patients from gurney and beds to OR table as needed. responsible for the stocking of the clinical workspaces in procedural labs and the Pre/Post area with the needed patient care supplies. Responsible for ordering, stocking, and maintaining par levels of linen and patient nutrients. Transport of surgical specimen to the appropriate area of the lab and mammography department. Electrocardiograms Processes request for electrocardiograms from inpatient and outpatient areas and assure they are completed with the correct priority. Able to perform and instruct others in the performance of 12-lead electrocardiograms. Must be familiar with common technical problems which require adjustment to the equipment to ensure a satisfactory quality tracing and recognizes machine malfunction and able to make appropriate adjustment and minor repairs. Able to assist with the editing and processing of routine tracings. d. Uploading tracings with physician edits to VistA Imaging. Zio Patch Application Scheduling Cardiology appointments through the appointment management system and notifying patients of scheduled appointments, coordination with the patient and staff in an effort to combine hospital trips by making multiple appointments on a single day, notifying patients when appointments are cancelled and rescheduling the appointments Completing comments, notes, and encounters after every procedure Applying Zio Patch on in-patient's and through the remote Zio Patch application process.
